What is the typhoon and rainstorm policy?

 

Classes will take place as usual when the following warnings are issued:

• T1 Typhoon Warning

• T3 Typhoon Warning

• Amber Rain Warning

• Red Rain Warning

 

Classes will be suspended when the following warnings are issued:

• T8 Typhoon Warning

• T9 Typhoon Warning

• T10 Typhoon Warning

• Black Rain Warning

Starting from what age can students be enrolled in your courses?

 

We have students as young as 3 years old, but there isn’t a specific age restriction in which we enforce. Enrollment into any one of our classes would depend on the results of an assessment test, conducted for every new student. The assessment test is free of charge, on the condition of a few simple registration procedures, please look below for more information.

What material do you use for Baba Lamb Phonics? How is it different from other publishers like Jolly Phonics or Letterland?

 

For our phonics classes, we use our very own textbook called “Baba Lamb Phonics”. Published by Reader Ship, we use actions to help students remember the sound of a letter, similar to that of Jolly Phonics. We also use combination sounds to teach phonics instead of having students pronounce each letter individually, which is more natural and less mechanical.

Do you teach British or American English?

​

In our phonics classes we teach a relatively neutral Canadian accent, which provides a good basis for students to interact and experiment with other accents. Our books and course materials are drawn from both American and English publishers, with the majority of them being American.

How much does it cost for an assessment test?

​

The assessment test is free of charge. All you have to do is like our Facebook page and you'll receive a breakdown of your child’s English ability.

Do you offer free course trials?

​

For Chinese classes we offer 1 class of free trial. However, for English courses, we do not offer free trials.

How long is the duration of each class?

​

All of our classes are 1 hour long.

How do you know if a book is suitable for my child?

​

A book is considered suitable for a student if the child is able to understand 70% of its content.

How do you know when a student has completed the conversation course?

​

Due to the fact that our conversation classes have no foreseeable amount of lessons before completion, progression would depend on the teacher’s judgement on the student’s performance.
